Why do we need fire retardant shower curtains ?

Although cigarette smoking was banned in all public buildings, an increasing number of people have sought inside locations to smoke. Such determined smokers will still seek out places in hospitals, old people’s homes, holiday apartments, cruise ships, hotels, conference centres, halls of residence, care homes, prisons, schools, holiday parks and care in the community. In fact any building and almost invariably in a shower cubicle behind a shower curtain or in a toilet.

The Thomas Kneale fire retardant shower curtains meet BS 5867, Part 2, Type B which means the shower curtain will self extinguish if ignited. It has anti–microbial and anti–bacterial properties and is engineered to resist mildew growth.

It is wipeable in situ with anti-septic cleaning agents. These waterproof shower curtains are ready to hang with standard eyelets and have a fully lead weighted hem. The standard size is 72” x 72” but we are able to accommodate any size and any drop for extra wide and extra long fire retardant shower curtains.

All public and private sector buildings where shower facilities are provided should specify fire retardant showers curtains along with all other fire retardant curtains and soft furnishings.
