Faced with the humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine, here at Thomas Kneale we wanted to provide immediate and concrete support to the Ukrainian people. We therefore joined forces with the Re-use Network, John Lewis & Partners and Nectar Bedding to donate bed and bath linens, duvets, pillows, clothing and sleeping bags.
‘Stella’s Voice’ (stellasvoice.org.uk) provides care, education, and jobs, protecting the world’s vulnerable from human trafficking in Moldova, which neighbours Ukraine.
Brett Mendell, Director here at Thomas Kneale:
“We became aware of Stella’s Voice who support vulnerable people in Moldova with Education, Jobs and Care. Bordering the South-West of Ukraine, Moldova has become a key route for people fleeing the war. When we became aware of Stella’s Voice appeal through Re-use Network, we quickly pulled together a plan.
In all, we collated 15 pallets of stock. We were also able to act as a logistical and warehouse point for various organisations such as Nectar Bedding who themselves delivered almost 100 bags worth of bedding to us ready for collection. John Lewis provided a vehicle, however the quantity was so great that one vehicle was not enough and John Lewis quickly offered a second!”
Andrew Hall, Logistics Director here at Thomas Kneale:
“We were delighted to be able to support this initiative, both through the donation of our own products and as a warehouse facility for Nectar Bedding. What struck me was the level of support that came from everyone involved in the project.
Our own warehouse team, who ordinarily start their day at 4am, came in an hour earlier through their choice, to get ahead so they had the time to support the unloading and loading of goods. Everyone is touched by the desperate situation Ukrainians find themselves in and I think that is why people are going over and above to make sure that we can do whatever we can to help the cause”
Richard J. Manville, MD here at Thomas Kneale:
“This is the second time we have donated in the last two weeks, and it will not be the last. When our overseas suppliers saw what we were doing they wanted to help too. So we are now expecting shortly a container in which there is a large proportion of donated stock from our trusted suppliers overseas who share our corporate values.
As for Team TK, if you allow me a footballing analogy, we have the Champions League, Premier League And FA Cup Winning Team all wrapped up into one. They are simply great and carry a profound sense of social value which is the essence of our company. I am privileged to work with such people.”
